Meet D.D. Scott
Here’s everything you ever wanted to know about me as well
as several things you probably didn’t but I’ll tell you
anyway figuring someday you might change your mind...
I was raised
by a mom and dad who taught me to love, follow my dreams and never
give up on either. They’ve always been there
for me, even when I’m not sure why or how they could possibly
put up with my are-you-nuts adventures. I’ve kept traveling
beyond-normal-byways so that my sister, her husband and my niece
and nephews feel the love when they say “Yes, Aunt D. D. is
crazy, but she’s going to make it someday.”
I’ve definitely had issues deciding what I want to be when
I grow up. I simply have so many dreams and
so little time. But I’ve loved every
minute of the journey. Thanks Mom and Dad.
Maybe you can help me figure it out. So what do the following
career highlights have in common?
- graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude from Purdue University
with degrees in political science and psychology
- working as a paralegal
for a personal injury and criminal law firm
- becoming the Human Resources
Manager for a company with 800 employees in seven locations
- pounding
the streets as a crime reporter for a local newspaper
- acting as
the Shipping Coordinator and Executive Assistant for a major publisher’s
returns center
Stumped to find a match? Well so was I, but ever since I won
a Young Author’s Conference in elementary school with a story
entitled “When Charlie Brown Fell in Love with Lucy”,
I’ve evidently been gearing up for a career as a Romance Novelist.
Now
that I accept being a Romance Novelist as my destiny, I do see that
in each of my career paths, it was the writing I enjoyed most – whether
in the form of a senior thesis, a legal brief, an employee handbook,
a front page story, or an executive memo. Luckily, I figured
out writing romance was much more fun and as long as I changed the
names, my readers would go on thinking my characters were fictional. Like
I’d ever admit otherwise.
Pouring over
the stories that fly from my heart onto my pages, I noticed I gravitate
toward sexy, sassy, smart, career-driven women and the men who complete
them...if only they can find time for love in their day-planners
and in their hearts.
So that’s me...D.
D. Scott...the Romance Novelist...and the evolution of my Sexy, Sassy,
Smart Stories.
So what about the man who
completes me?
Oh hell, I’ll admit it. I’m
a badge bunny. My hero doesn’t ride up on his big white
horse. He drives to my rescue in his sheriff’s department-issued
SUV. I met him when I was a crime reporter and he was a shift
captain, fell in love with him over coffee once a week, and decided
he was a keeper after he left a card and a big chocolate heart on
my car for Valentine’s Day.
He’s my best friend,
my biggest fan, my manager, and the love of my life. He’s
shown this sexy, sassy, smart woman that it’s okay to need
a man to live, love and laugh and make life complete.
I love you, Sweet Man.
